Uploading Videos with Captions April 10, 2017

After we deliver your final video, uploading it to your website or social media sites will be your responsibility. The most common type of caption file is called a .SRT file, which Facebook, Vimeo, and YouTube all accept. Instructions may vary slightly, but for our purposes, we’ll look at uploading .SRT files to these three websites.

Facebook

  1. Log-in to your company page.
  2. In the Write Something field, select the camera icon to the lower left.
  3. From the Basic tab, select your video to upload.
  4. From the Captions tab, upload your .srt file.

Vimeo

  1. Log-in to your company page.
  2. Click on Upload in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Select your video file.
  4. Click on the gear icon in the corner of your video that is uploading.
  5. In the new window, go to Advanced.
  6. Under Upload Captions and Subtitles, click on Choose File to Upload and select your .srt file.

YouTube

  1. Log-in to your company page.
  2. Click on the upload arrow symbol in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Select your video file.
  4. Click on Video Manager in the lower right corner of the screen.
  5. Next to the video, open the drop-down menu next to the Edit button.
  6. Select Subtitles/CC. Your video needs to be done uploading for this option to appear.
  7. Select language from dropdown menu. Click Set language.
  8. Click on Add New Subtitles or CC.
  9. Select language again.
  10. Under Select Method click on Upload a file, to select your .srt file.
